The Brendan Fraser the return wagon is rolling. One of the most heartening celebrity stories of 2022, Fraser’s return to the limelight with a new wave of critical acclaim saw him become a favorite for the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Darren Aronofsky. . The whale. He’s been a busy guy over the past few months, receiving endless standing ovations at film festivals, receiving criticism for his career, and basically reminding us why we missed him so much in the first place.

One of the things that launched the Brenaissance was a 2018 profile in QG, where Fraser’s absence from the big and small screen for several years was contextualized. He detailed his mental and physical health issues following a series of on-set injuries and personal struggles. A revelation came when he alleged that former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk had sexually assaulted him.

The experience, in which Fraser was allegedly groped and assaulted at a lunch date in 2003, made him feel like “something had been taken from me”. Berk, a known creep who was eventually kicked out of the HFPA for calling Black Lives Matter a “racist hate movement,” denied any wrongdoing. But he admitted what he claimed “was meant to be taken as a joke and not a sexual advance”. See, totally different thing. The HFPA attempted to get Fraser to sign a joint statement supporting this claim, which he refused. Berk, by his own admission, has never been disciplined by the organization.

The golden globes, the so-called HFPA award, was a mess for a long time, and it resulted in NBC taking them off the air for a year after it was revealed that the oddly cloistered band had no black members. Now, however, NBC has committed to airing the ceremony next year, and with it, Hollywood is once again scrambling to claim that this group of corrupt starf*ckers somehow deserves their attention. But not Fraser.

In a new profile for QG, Fraser is candid about his so-called comeback, offering a warm but grounded outlook on his career at this new stage in his life. It’s a great piece, one with an honest, tongue-in-cheek subject matter that seems acutely aware of how the hype can quickly curdle and doesn’t want to take things too seriously. when asked about the HFPA, he is candid.

“The Whale is an Oscar favorite. Fraser is not only favored to be nominated in the Best Actor category, he is currently favored to win. In a ‘normal’ awards season, that would mean that Fraser would most likely also be nominated for the Golden Globes. I asked if he would go if he was invited.

“I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I have respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” Fraser said. “No, I will not participate.”

He spoke very softly. I had to lean forward just to hear it over the wind moving through the trees above us. “It’s because of the history I have with them. And my mother didn’t raise a hypocrite. You can call me many things, but not that.

The absolute king sh*t here.

Fraser is right. Why should he play ball with a band that hurt him, threw him dry, then eagerly wants to kiss him now that he’s back in the good books of Hollywood? What does he have to gain by following this accepted cycle of ass-kissing and hypocrisy?

And it’s not just Fraser. Why is someone in the industry entertaining the HFPA, a small group of total non-influencers who claim their little gold statuette and drunken night out is equivalent to the Oscars? It’s a meaningless award and everyone knows it, but somehow the Golden Globes have managed to sell this lie that they’re a crucial player in awards season.

They don’t really want to apologize to Fraser, nor are they interested in any form of restorative justice. They just want to be with the popular kid at the big boy table. And Fraser told them to fuck off. Well, he said it much better than me, but we got the gist. Hopefully everyone in Hollywood will follow suit, but I doubt it. There are many lessons to be learned from the blacklisting and subsequent return of Brendan Fraser, and the industry could listen to them.

“Fear to Tread”, the inaugural exhibition of Roger That! Gallery + Studios at Roger Williams University, is a somewhat harsh viewing experience that nevertheless manages to be engaging, curious, and ultimately rewarding.

The gallery is housed in an unassuming building a few blocks from downtown Bristol, Rhode Island. On the evening of the opening, in order to view the exhibition, visitors passed through a large hall that serves as a common studio space for Roger Williams’ art students, many of whom were on hand to enjoy the festivities and display some of their own works.

Curator Alexander Castro mixes the work of regional contemporary visual artists with initially head-scratching choices including an inkjet reproduction of an early 20th-century entrance photograph depicting the entrance to Ferrycliffe Farm, the site on which RWU now exists, credited to Herbert Marshall Howe (possibly), a 1991 naïve landscape painting by an unknown artist, and an advertisement for Osteo Bi Flex, originally printed in a 2003 issue of Ladies ‘ Home Journal.

Sean Penn showed his support for President Zelensky by gifting him his Oscar statuette. The event was posted on Instagram, where Penn can be seen giving the president his Oscar statuette. It was a way for Penn to show that he stood in solidarity with all Ukrainians. Sean Penn fans found it an act of great courage.

Presenting the statuette to President Zelensky, Sean said, “It’s a silly symbol, but I feel strong if he’s here.” Penn asked the President of Ukraine to bring the statuette back to Malibu when Ukraine records a victory in the war.

F1’s silly season starts with Piastri fiasco

Piastri announced

Alpine F1 announced longtime academy driver Oscar Piastri as one of its drivers for the 2023 season on Tuesday, only to be pushed back by the driver. The Australian F2 champion later tweeted that he had not signed, throwing the driver market into chaos.

President Zelenskyy recognized this symbol of strength from Sean Penn with the utmost respect. “He has given constant support to Ukraine with everything he has since he visited us in the capital,” Zelenskky said in his speech.

Paul, who is shooting a documentary in Ukraine and has been there twice before, hopes to cement his country’s bond with the Ukrainian people. Penn also holds his country’s Order of Merit for strengthening relations with Ukraine.

Moreover, this wonderful intention will support the territorial integrity of his country while promoting the country through his efforts.

Known for his commanding screen presence and acting, Sean Penn has been nominated for 5 Oscars (and we hope there will be more nominations in the future!). He won Oscars for his superb performances in The Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008). In fact, the scene where he had to deliver a monologue to his deceased daughter (played by Emily Rossum) in the movie The Mystic River, had to be shot over and over again. Because every time Sean spoke, Emily ended up crying. Such was his performance. A well-deserved Oscar. And now given for a well-deserved cause!

Sean Penn was banned by the Russian government earlier for supporting Ukraine in this war.

ROME (Reuters) – Italian archaeologists have found more than two dozen beautifully preserved bronze statues dating back to ancient Roman times at baths in Tuscany, in what experts hail as an “exceptional” find.

The statues were discovered over the past two weeks in San Casciano dei Bagni, a hilltop town about 160 kilometers (100 miles) north of Rome where archaeologists have explored ancient ruins for the past three years.

“It is a very important and exceptional find,” Jacopo Tabolli, assistant professor at the University for Foreigners of Siena who heads the archaeological project, told Reuters on Tuesday.

Tabolli said the statues – which Italian news agency ANSA says are 2,300 years old – adorned a shrine before being immersed in thermal waters, in some sort of ritual, “probably around the 1st century AD. “.

“You give to the water because you hope the water will give you something back,” he said of the ritual.

Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano also hailed the discovery, which he said should give tourism a boost.

“It is an exceptional discovery which once again confirms that Italy is a country of immense and unique treasures,” he said in a statement.

The statues were covered in nearly 6,000 pieces of bronze, silver and gold, and the warm waters of San Casciano helped preserve them “almost like the day they were submerged,” Tabolli said.

The archaeologist, an expert in Etruscology and Italic archaeology, said his team had found 24 large statues, as well as several smaller statuettes, and noted that it was unusual that they were made of bronze rather than terracotta .

Tabelli said this suggested they came from what he called an elite colony.

According to ANSA, which first reported on the find, the statues were transported to a restoration laboratory in Grosseto, another Tuscan town, but will eventually be returned to San Casciano dei Bagni for display in a new museum.

Ironically, this campaign of Hinduphobia is the work of expatriate Indians and Hindus themselves; a bunch of people who hate each other and have low self-esteem.

The volatile fluidity of British politics in the post-Brexit period has led to unprecedented consequences: three Prime Ministers in one year, the shortest Prime Minister’s term in Britain’s history and finally a Prime Minister of Indian origin.
The elevation of Indian-born Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is heralded as a sentinel event; a first of several kinds. The first person of color to hold the post, Britain’s first Hindu Prime Minister and the youngest Prime Minister in over 200 years.
Indians reacted to Rishi Sunak’s success with a mixture of pride, jubilation and a touch of Schadenfreude. The irony of an individual of Indian descent ruling Britain just 75 years after we gained independence from the British is too intoxicating not to celebrate.
A provocatively mocked report: An Indian son rises above the empire. History comes full circle in Britain.
Stripped of all that hype, one has to realize that Rishi Sunak’s Indian ownership in his heyday is merely symbolic, tribal and nothing more.
Rishi Sunak’s election as Prime Minister is a secular event driven solely by his strong economic credentials, which Britons believe will help pull the UK out of its financial quagmire. His young age, his ethnic origin and his religious identity are incidental factors which have little influence on his ascendancy.
Nonetheless, amid these contradictory narratives swirling through the air, a disconcerting and ugly sideshow plays out: a rabid exposition of Hinduphobia.
Hinduphobia is an ugly and malignant trope that is becoming increasingly common in the West. Threatened by political correctness, this unsavory trait has long remained subliminal in its expression. Now it has exploded into the limelight with chilling boldness and frankness: a development fueled by the rapid rise of Indians, primarily Hindus, in countries like the US and UK. Today, a host of major tech companies like Google and Microsoft boast of having Hindu CEOs of Indian descent. The recent election of Rishi Sunak, a Hindu whose ancestors came from India, as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has added further water to this mill of Hinduphobia; his Hindu background is targeted.
Ironically, this campaign of Hinduphobia is the work of expatriate Indians and Hindus themselves; a bunch of people who hate each other and have low self-esteem.
Leading the charge in this case is none other than Pankaj Mishra, a well-known author and regular contributor to The Guardian (UK) and The New York Times, who has built a successful career by bashing, mocking and ridiculing Hindutva, Hinduism and Hindus, in no particular order.
Pankaj Mishra is the brown Uncle Tom of the pseudo-liberal West who harbors stereotypes about India and needs to be continually titillated by its so-called exoticism and immorality (like casteism) to feel good about India. his skin. Mishra’s writings quickly fuel this warped mindset.
Pankaj Mishra uses tangential logic, wild assumptions and self-serving fantasy to downplay Sunak’s success. Writing in the Guardian (October 28, 2022), he claims: “Hindu supremacists have pounced on the possibility that Rishi Sunak, a self-proclaimed devout Hindu, is a desi bro, or even an undercover agent of the ‘Global Indian Takeover’ — the headline of a once regular Times of India article. Obviously, he observes the taboos of the upper castes against beef and alcohol and always keeps close to him his statuette of Ganesha, guarantor of worldly success.
Does being a devout Hindu make Rishi Sunak less eligible to take on the mantle of British Prime Minister? Is being abstinent an exclusive trait of the Hindu upper caste and a disqualification? Is it a crime to wear a statue of Ganesha, which many Hindus do? Don’t Christians hang a cross around their neck?
By using the adjective “self-proclaimed” and affixing the label of “upper caste” to Sunak’s eating and drinking habits, Mishra wishes to label him a kind of Hindu fanatic, who should be viewed with caution: a classic example of Hinduphobia.
In another sectarian commentary, Pankaj Mishra remarks: “Collaboration with the white ruling classes or political passivity rather than struggles for social justice largely defines the history of the Indian diaspora, especially its highly educated and caste members. superior”.
As the Indian diaspora grows and more and more people of Indian origin rise higher and higher professionally, economically and politically, envy and hatred will prove to be inevitable corollaries. These sectarian writings will find fertile ground to stir up enmity and discrimination; Hinduphobia will increase.
The scenario unfolding in the West – a small, highly educated and prosperous community becoming an eyesore to the general public – has all the hallmarks of nascent anti-Semitism.
There is a real danger that Hinduphobia will snowball into the new anti-Semitism. It must be countered and stopped in its tracks.

For the first time, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences splits children’s programming into its own show. The inauguration Emmy for Kids and Family will take place over two days in December, and Youtube will be rooting for both nominated shows he distributed.

One of these YouTube Originals is In space with Markiplier. The two-part series, which used a choose-your-own format, arrived on YouTube Kids in April. Its titular star, whose real name is Marc Fischbachnegotiated a streak of interstellar peril with the help of its trusty crew (that is, viewers like you).

The other nominee for being from YouTube is Tab timea delicious series hosted by the actress and chef Tabitha Brown. After is playing its second season earlier this year, Tab time landed two Emmy nominations: one for Outstanding Preschool Series and another for Outstanding Host. Brown, like Fischbach, was quick to share his enthusiasm. She celebrated the pair of nods from her show in a Shorts clip.

While YouTube should be happy with its multiple nominations, the Kids & Family Emmys are dominated by subscription streaming services. netflix led all distributors with a huge 82 applications. Disney+ hung 59 nods, AppleTV+ added 17, HBO Max won 14 (mainly thanks to sesame street), and Hulu picked up seven.

Compared to these services, YouTube’s number of kid-friendly Emmys will be small. Even a single win would bolster the original content strategy of the Google-owned platform. Although YouTube reduced its programming in early 2022, it continued its commitment to family-friendly shows and content from black creators. Two programs that resulted from these misplaced investments can now claim glory in the form of Emmy statuettes.

The TV Academy announced the new Emmy Award subdivision in November 2021. Previously, children and family programming was celebrated during the Daytime Emmys, which will take place for the 50th time next year. Prizes for all ages will now be awarded over two nightson December 10 and 11.

The simpsons is one of the longest running animated sitcoms of all time. Fans are treated to an annual Halloween special with three terrifying and entertaining stories each year. Many The simpsons fans love Horror Treehouse episodes and usually watch them during the spooky season.

The show is now in its 34th season, and over the years dozens of twisty tales have been brought to life. The simpsons universe. Each segment of Treehouse of Horror tells a chilling story, and many are based on some of the world’s most renowned horror classics. Some of them stand out from the rest and are the best horror parodies offered by the animated sitcom.

10/10 ‘Unnormal Activity’ is based on one of the best horror films of this century

In “Unnormal Activity”, Homer gets a camcorder to capture the weird things that start happening in the dead of night. The bald protagonist records Marge and himself sleeping in the bedroom, and after the first night Homer insists on setting up several cameras around the house.

Just like in the paranormal activity movies, the audience watches the majority of the creepy parody from the camera’s perspective, and time flies by until something unexplained happens. Ultimately, it is revealed that Marge is responsible for the mysterious mishaps after making a deal with the devil as a child. The parody is based on one of the best horror movies of the 21st century and made Treehouse Of Horror history.

9/10 Flanders is the antagonist of a scary segment

The first part of the spooky-themed 10th episode is titled “I know what you did lazily-lazily-. When the Simpson family are driving through the foggy night, Marge hits something, which turns out to be their jolly neighbor, Ned Flanders Instead of reporting him to the police, they cover up his death.

RELATED: 10 Funniest Devils On TV

It soon becomes apparent that someone witnessed the murder and a hook-wielding villain begins to stalk them. The segment is based on the 1997 film I know what you spent the summer, and the parody is a perfect example of a Simpsons-style horror parody. There are plenty of jokes throughout the spooky segment, and the story even incorporates another beastly tale.

8/10 ‘The Exor-Sis’ is a parody of one of the scariest movies

“The Exor-Sis” is the opening tale of Treehouse of Horror XXVIII. Homer mistakenly orders a sculpture of Pazuzu from Amazon, and Maggie becomes possessed by the demonic statuette. The bewitched baby then invites himself to the Simpson family’s cocktail party, and the spirit of Pazuzu frightens the guests.

That’s when the exorcist arrives and tries to rid Maggie of the demon. It’s quite obvious that the terrifying tale is based on the iconic horror film The Exorcist, considered by many to be the scariest movie ever made. That’s why the parody is one of the series creator’s best works.

7/10 ‘Dead Ringer’ is based on a beloved horror classic

In Treehouse of Horror XXXII, the “Dead Ringer” segment is a parody of the famous horror movie the ring. Instead of a cursed videotape, there’s a video on TikTok circulating around the school, and just like the classic horror movie, those who watch it have seven days to live.

When Lisa works up the courage to watch the haunted TikTok video, she answers the ringing phone and confronts the caller. She bravely calls the murderer a coward and demands that she be killed immediately. It was then that the emblematic scene of the ring is reproduced in the Simpsons’ house and the creepy girl comes out of the TV screen. As cliché as it sounds, it’s a modern take on a beloved horror classic.

6/10 An evil Krusty Doll attempts to murder Homer

In “Clown Without Pity”, Homer forgets to buy Bart a birthday present. He quickly heads downtown and stumbles upon a store called “House of Evil” containing forbidden items from places men are afraid to tread. However, he finds a talking Krusty doll and Bart is extremely pleased with his gift.

RELATED: 10 Best Horror Movie Survivors

A few days later, the toy makes numerous attempts on Homer’s life. It looks a lot like the 1988 slasher movie Child’s play, where the serial killer’s antagonist is a lifelike doll named Chucky. The iconic scary movie influenced the opening story of the Treehouse Of Horror episode and is among the best horror parodies in the series.

5/10 “Not It” is a single episode of Treehouse Of Horror

by Stephen King The novels influenced several short stories in Treehouse of Horror episodes. The final season features a chilling episode titled “Not It”, based on King’s famous horror story. Krusty plays the monstrous clown who terrorizes the town of Kingfield and preys on the fears of its young citizens.

There are two parts to the creepy parody. The first sees Homer and his friends having their worst nightmares as preteens. In part two, they return as adults to overcome their horrors and attempt to save modern-day youth. This has been parodied in multiple mediums, and it was about time The simpsons’ creators have jumped on the bandwagon. There’s no doubt that one of the most famous horror stories will end up being simpsonized, and as a result, Treehouse of Horror’s single episode is among the best parodies of the series.

4/10 Frankenstein influenced an early segment of Treehouse Of Horror

One of the first tales in an episode of Treehouse of Horror is heavily influenced by Frankenstein and his grotesque creation. Most people are familiar with the green zombie-like creature, and Mary Shelley’s famous story has been referenced dozens of times in multiple media outlets.

In The simpsons’ interpretation, Mr. Burns searches for a human brain to bring his robotic invention to life. The spirit they find belongs to Homer; therefore, the realistic contraption defies instructions and craves donuts and sleep. The story is remembered as one of Mr. Burns’ best episodes, as it is perfect for the role of the unorthodox scientist. Shelley’s novel was also the main inspiration for the Treehouse of Horror XIV segment, “Frinkenstein”, where Professor Frink reanimates his father’s frozen corpse.

3/10 ‘Bart Simpson’s Dracula’ is an Iconic Halloween Special

Bart Simpson hosts the Treehouse Of Horror IV episode, and the final segment is an evil vampiric tale. When local murder victims are said to have been drained of blood and show two teeth marks on their necks, Mr. Burns invites the titular family to a midnight dinner at his Pennsylvania country home.

Lisa is the only character suspicious of Burns’ behavior, and she later determines that he is the head vampire and must be killed. The Gothic segment is a parody of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, one of the most famous horror stories in the world. It made sense to The simpsons to create their own version of the creepy classic, which has become an icon Television Halloween Special Episode.

2/10 “Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace” is an unforgettable parody

When Groundskeeper Willie mysteriously disappears, Marge reveals that he caught fire and burned to death during a PTA meeting. Because no one offered to help him, Willie swore revenge and exclaimed “you will pay for it with the blood of your children. The students at Springfield Elementary then realize that Willie is terrorizing them in their dreams.

After trying to stay awake, Bart ends up taking a nap to confront the clawed murderer in a deadly figment of his imagination. Lisa also falls asleep and becomes engrossed in the same dream, but the two end up in the clutches of Willie, who takes the form of a giant spider with a body made of bagpipes. Freddy Kruger is a huge horror icon and Willie’s portrayal in The simpsons is an unforgettable parody.

1/10 ‘The Shining’ is the most iconic horror parody of The Simpsons

The first tale of Treehouse Of Horror V is simply called “The Shining” and The simpsons’ the creators make no effort to hide the fact that it is based on one of Stephen King’s scariest novels, also called the brilliant. However, the characters comically pronounce it differently when it is revealed that Bart can read people’s minds. The segment begins to take shape and resembles the famous horror story when the animated family arrives at Burns’ mansion to work as winter watchmen.

With some encouragement from the household ghouls and a lack of television and beer, Homer is persuaded to kill his family. This is Treehouse Of Horror’s most iconic tale as it parodies one of King’s best film adaptations. The movie was also directed by Stanley Kubrick and nicely compiled the two horror icons into one memorable Simpsonized story.

If convicted on all 11 counts, Weinstein could face up to 140 years in prison.

Who are Weinstein’s accusers?

Documentary filmmaker and actress Jennifer Siebel Newsom is one of five women accusing Weinstein.

She appeared in small roles in dozens of movies and TV shows between 2002 and 2011, and has recently directed genre-focused documentaries including The Great American Lie and Fair Play. She is married to California Governor Gavin Newsom.

She first wrote about her experience with Weinstein in a 2017 essay in The Huffington Post, but revealed few details at the time.

Ms Newsom’s lawyer, Elizabeth Fegan, said in a statement: “Like many other women, my client was sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein during an alleged business meeting which turned out to be a trap .

“She intends to testify at her trial to seek some measure of justice for survivors, and as part of her life’s work to improve the lives of women.”

The other four women will remain anonymous and will testify under the name of Jane Doe.

Most of the alleged incidents, like Ms Newsom’s, happened under the guise of business meetings at luxury hotels in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, which Weinstein used as his California headquarters during awards season. and throughout the year.

Four of the alleged attacks were said to have taken place during Oscars week 2013, where Weinstein’s hit films Silver Linings Playbook and Django Unchained brought home scores of statuettes.

Who are the witnesses?

The initial list of witnesses included more than 270 names, although the final list is expected to contain less than half. The list has not been made public.

A witness, Barbara Schneeweiss, producer of Project Runway and other TV shows, was present in court and a judge told her she was on call to report at all times.

Jurors were also given a long list of names of witnesses at the upcoming trial, including those of the accusers, to determine if they are related to them.

The prosecution will also be allowed to introduce as evidence material from Weinstein’s New York conviction for rape and sexual assault.

A potential witness against Weinstein is Hollywood actor and director Mel Gibson after a judge ruled he could testify.

Prosecutors say Gibson, who won an Oscar for directing Braveheart, was a friend of one of the accusers.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench ruled Gibson could testify about what the friend told her about Weinstein, although the judge said she could change her mind depending on the friend’s testimony.

Will there be a jury?

This is a jury trial and 12 jurors – nine men and three women – have been selected.

They seem to be mostly between the ages of 40 and 70. Some appear to be older than that, and one male appears to be in his early to mid-twenties.

Ten alternate jurors will also attend for the duration of the trial, ready to step in and replace any of the 12 jurors, should anyone become unable to serve.

They were chosen from a group of 225 potential jurors, who all completed a lengthy questionnaire.

It is understood to have included questions such as what media coverage of Weinstein they had seen and whether they had formed an opinion about it.

There was also a question about a California law that states that a sexual assault victim’s testimony alone can be sufficient evidence to convict if a juror believes them.

No sugar coating is needed to persuade kids to show up for a free and safe candy party on Saturday, October 22.

Elissa Paquette, President of Downtown New Bedford Inc., confirms that this year’s All Treats, No Tricks (formerly known as dNB Fall Fest) will provide more entertainment than ever.

The fun, family-friendly event featuring tricks or treats at over 40 businesses, runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Downtown New Bedford will be temporarily revamped, with dizzying scarecrow stilt walkers mingling with families.

“The living statue is a crowd pleaser,” Paquette said. “Every year, the actress is dressed in big costumes that look like a statuette or a tree, and suddenly, from a lifeless position, she will change her pose and everyone around her is surprised, then laughs. “

The SouthCoast Brass Band will perform in front of the New Bedford Whaling Museum and dancers from the New Bedford Performing Arts Center will perform.

“There’s an amazing art exhibit at TL6; coloring sheets, crayons and Halloween candy at the New Bedford Art Museum; and at the main downtown library there will be crafts and Halloween-themed books,” Paquette said.

While you’re at the library, take the elevator to the third floor where early voting takes place. Your children seeing you vote could be a powerful example.

Speaking of adult stuff, an adult sangria tasting at Anthi’s Drawing Room, 22 William St., is scheduled from 2-4 p.m.

The complete program is on the New Bedford Inc. Downtown Facebook Page and on Instagram at @dNBinc.

The rain date is Saturday, October 29.
