Diane Warren went 0-13 at the Oscars in the Best Original Song category, but her luck is changing dramatically. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday (June 21) that its board of directors had voted to award honorary awards to Warren, director Peter Weir and filmmaker Euzhan Palcy, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to the actor Michael J. Fox. The four Oscar statuettes will be presented at the 13th Academy Governors Awards on November 19 in Los Angeles.

Warren is the first person primarily known as a songwriter to be selected for an honorary Oscar. Previous honorary Oscars have gone to film composers Alex North, Lalo Schifrin and Ennio Morricone and musical comedy stars such as Gene Kelly, Danny Kaye, Eddie Cantor and Maurice Chevalier. The honorary Oscars date back to 1950.

“The Academy’s Board of Trustees is honored to recognize four individuals who have made indelible contributions to film and the world at large,” Academy President David Rubin said in a statement. “Michael J. Fox’s tireless advocacy for Parkinson’s disease research and his boundless optimism illustrate the impact of one person in changing the future of millions. Euzhan Palcy is a pioneering filmmaker whose groundbreaking significance in international cinema is rooted in film history. Diane Warren’s music and lyrics have amplified the emotional impact of countless films and inspired generations of musical artists. Peter Weir is a director of consummate artistic skill and talent whose work reminds us of the power of film to reveal the full range of human experience.

Warren is one of only nine songwriters in Oscar history to have amassed 13 or more nominations. But she’s also the only one of those nine songwriters yet to win one. This honorary award will not count as a competitive Oscar, although it is a fine tribute. And that can be the precursor to a competitive reward. Legendary composer Morricone won an honorary award in 2006, when his Oscar run for best original score was 0-5. He won the very next time he was nominated, in 2016, for The Hateful Eight.

Here’s what an Academy press release says about Warren: “Warren is one of the most prolific contemporary songwriters and has written original songs for over 100 films. She has earned 13 Oscar nominations in the original song category, beginning in 1987 and in each of the past five decades, for songs such as “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”, “Because You Loved Me”, “How Do I Live”, “I don’t want to miss anything”, “Until it happens to you” and “Stand up for something”. She has collaborated with leading musical artists such as Beyoncé, Cher, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Reba McEntire and Carlos Santana.

Like Warren, Weir has always been an Oscar bridesmaid. It went 0-6 at the awards, despite four nominations for directing, one for writing, and one for best picture.

While Fox never had success on the Billboard Hot 100, a song from a box office hit he starred in and the TV show he rose to fame on both reached No. 1. These songs were Huey Lewis & the News “The Power of Love” from Back to the future (1985) and “At This Moment” by Billy Vera & the Beaters from Family ties (1987).

Both Warren and Fox are Grammy winners. Warren won the 1996 award for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television for “Because You Loved Me” from Up close and personal). Fox won the 2009 award for Best Spoken Word Album (includes poetry, audiobooks and storytelling) for his audiobook Still looking.

The Academy statement notes that in 2000, Fox launched the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease Research, which is now the world’s leading Parkinson’s organization. He is the author of four New York Times bestselling books: Lucky, Still looking, A funny thing happened on the way to the future and No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality. Fox is the subject of a documentary by Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, which is currently in production.

The honorary award, an Oscar statuette, is given “to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, outstanding contributions to the state of the motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”

The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, also an Oscar statuette, is given “to a person in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought honor to the industry.”

SOKA, Saitama — An exhibit in the city of Soka in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, celebrates the birth month of the late Japanese literary scholar Donald Keene through a collection of photos and artifacts that show his connection to the city, as well as a 17th-century haiku master.

The “Exhibit on Donald Keene’s Connections to the City of Soka” is held in the city’s “Zenso-an Hakutai no Kakaku (Travellers of a Hundred Ages)” facility. Since his first visit in 1988, Keene had continued to visit the city for about 30 years, giving lectures and participating in other events. What brought the city and Keene together was haiku poet Matsuo Basho’s major work “Oku no Hosomichi” or “The Narrow Road to Oku”.

The Soka area was once a post town along the Nikko Kaido road, where many travelers including Basho passed through or stayed during the Edo period (1603-1867). Several centuries after Basho’s epic journey, Keene translated the work into English. According to Keene’s translation, a passage reads: “I continued my journey to a post town called Soka which we could hardly reach on the day of our departure.” Keene named the installation Zenso-an using the kanji characters from this passage.

In addition to Keene’s photos from his visits to Soka, there are works on display using Matsuo Basho’s motif. This includes hanging scrolls and framed papers, which are collaborations between Keene and her adopted son Seiki’s brother, Kiro Uehara. Some of the works are said to include sketches based on Kiro’s imagination of what Keene would look like if he were Matsuo Basho.

Also in a corner of the traditional one-story wooden building is a table Keene received as a gift from the wife of Yukio Mishima, one of the renowned Japanese writers Keene befriended during his lifetime. . A cassette player and CDs of his favorite opera singer Maria Callas, which were borrowed from Keene’s Tokyo home, along with a Metropolitan Opera cap, books and a replica of his manuscripts were placed on the table, with his umbrella and his jacket hung up. the nearby wall. It was as if the scholar himself was sitting in the chair with his beloved objects close at hand.

Yoshio Soai, general manager of the Soka City Cultural Association, which hosts the exhibit, was responsible for picking up Keene from his Tokyo home ahead of an event at Soka. He said that although he was extremely nervous about meeting the eminent scholar for the first time, he relaxed when he opened the door and saw a familiar-looking statuette of Basho – a trophy awarded to winners of the city’s literature prize, which Keene also helped establish.

Soai commented, “Although I remember being scared and thinking Keene was out of my league, I saw him smile sweetly whenever he joined events around town where students were reciting chants. passages from Oku no Hosomichi. The photos of him on display also show this charming side of him.”

The exhibition will continue until June 27, with the installation open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free entry. The Zenso-an facility is a five-minute walk from the east exit of Dokkyodaigakumae Soka-Matsubara Station.

After grabbing the golden statuette, and as usual, Fallon made sure he had plenty of balloons to celebrate.

“So this time I’m like ‘No more balls,'” he joked. “Jimmy sent me at least 70 balloons. But you know, we’re all big kids at heart. Jimmy supports me, The Roots, everyone, my whole family supports me.”

Upon returning to the “Tonight Show” after her Oscar win, Questlove shared a video on her Instagram Story of her work family applauding and cheering her on backstage.

At one point, Fallon serenaded him with “He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” as the audience sang along.

“We love you! We’re so proud of you!” Fallon exclaimed as he concluded the song. “Oh my God! You did it!”

Questlove’s Oscar win came immediately after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. Questlove later joked about the incident in his Grammy acceptance speech after winning Best Musical Picture.

There has been a lot for Questlove to celebrate this year. The musician was also named one of the 100 most influential people of 2022.

“My year has not been bad. I couldn’t complain. Blessings abound,” the TODAY Grammy winner said at the event. “And more importantly, I can honor the Harlem community and bring back a story that has long been buried about this music festival and it really touches people.”

“I’m just honored to have been chosen to bring it to the people,” he added.

When the list was announced, he shared the news with his followers on instagramexpressing how he would continue to celebrate and appreciate his many accomplishments.

“See. It’s gonna be like this for a while. Celebrating me isn’t really my favorite thing in the world without at least one self-deprecating joke to justify ‘living in an undeserved city,'” he said. he writes in part, “So stopping this toxic behavior last year was hard enough. But you only live once.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year in his first season with the Premier League club. During his first spell at United, Ronaldo won the coveted award in three campaigns – 2003/04, 2006/07 and 2007/08. After an impressive return to Old Trafford, fans voted for the Portuguese icon to receive the trophy for a record fourth time.

David De Gea is the only other Red to have claimed a quartet of Sir Matt Busby statuettes. United’s No.7 has enjoyed a clinical campaign, scoring 24 goals in all competitions and challenging anyone who doubted the 37-year-old could still play in English football after his long spells in Spain and Italy.

The majority of Ronaldo’s strikes – 18 – have come in the Premier League, a tally that put him third behind only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min who shared the Golden Boot award. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is no stranger to individual honors and has produced a number of winning displays for the Reds throughout the season, including his hat-tricks against Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, and his second debut against Newcastle United when he scored twice in front of the ecstatic crowd at Old Trafford.

As well as his exploits as a national goalscorer, the Portuguese forward scored six Champions League goals, once again demonstrating his ability to deliver at the highest level of club football. De Gea – United Players’ Player of the Year – was Ronaldo’s runner-up for the Sir Matt Busby award, while resurgent midfielder Fred emerged in third place. Both candidates joined Cristiano in showing impressive consistency throughout a difficult season for the team as a whole.

Despite their challenges, the legendary No. 7 was ultimately a convincing winner, adding a new entry to an already incredibly long list of accomplishments. (ANI)

Sniper Elite 5 is full of collectibles for players to find, including stolen antiques. These hidden objects are an optional objective in the game’s second mission, Occupied Residence. In this guide, I will tell you how to recover stolen antiques.

Where To Find Stolen Sniper Elite 5 Antiques

It is possible to complete the mission without finding the three stolen antiquities. However, if the player wants to get three stars in the mission, he will have to find all the stolen antiquities. Below is the list of stolen antiques:

  • group statue
  • Statuette of the old man
  • Statuette of a soldier

Slot #1 (Soldier Statue)

The Soldier Statuette is an antique found on an enemy sniper. It is in a building on the northeast side of the courtyard of the castle grounds. There are a lot of enemy soldiers in this area, but it is still possible to sneak past. It is possible to enter openly or sneak through the guards and kill the sniper silently. After killing him, you need to search Stolen Antique on the sniper’s body.

Slot #2 (Group Statue)

The castle grounds are home to many priceless antiquities, but three, in particular, have been stolen and hidden. One of these objects is called the “group statue”, which is on the second floor of the estate. Please enter the first open room on your right when you reach the top of the stairs to access it. Inside you will find a soldier guarding a wooden chest. Kill the soldier and open the chest to find your prize. Of course, you’ll need a bolt cutter or a pick to unlock it, but you’ll find a group statue inside.

Slot #3 (Old Man Statuette)

The Old Man Statuette is a valuable antique kept in a safe inside the castle grounds. You will need to find the code to open the safe to reach the statue. On the left side of the stairwell leading to the first floor, you will find a room with a message on it. Inside this room there is a document on a table that you need to pick up. The safe combination was written here. Abelard Moller’s office is just behind the stairs to the first floor.

Leaving the office, turn right and enter the first open room on the left. Continue on the right side of this room until you reach the bedroom. On the left wall, next to the bed, you will see a painting of a woman without a hat.

If you interact with this painting, your character will remove it and expose a safe hiding place. If you had acquired the paper earlier, the safe would have already been opened. Otherwise, you can use a satchel to blow it up. Here you will find your old man statuette.

That’s all you need to know to find all Stolen Antiques locations.
