Innersect Shanghai: our favorite collaborations of all time


INNERSECT, East Asia’s flagship arts, fashion and lifestyle event, has attracted the most influential names in street culture since its first edition in 2017. Visionaries come together every year for a three-day feast of workshops, conferences and immersive experiences. which explore the most crucial topics influencing the scene today.

But of course, no pivotal street culture event would be complete without brands. Over the past four years, industry visionaries including Virgil Abloh, Futura and Daniel Arsham have flocked to Shanghai to launch collections and drops which, more often than not, have been created as part of exclusive collaborative capsules. at INNERSECT.

Now, for us (and you) excited about the fifth edition of INNERSECT before it takes place in Shanghai in December, we’ve decided to reflect on the best collaborations we’ve seen at the event so far. . Find our top 10 below.

NIKE x Virgil Alboh “The Ten”

When: INNERSECT 2017

What: After Virgil Abloh and Nike’s OFF-CAMPUS events at New York, London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks, their collaborative collection of “The Ten” sneakers has headed to INNERSECT. The entire project was on display for fans to interact with; there was even a small workshop that allowed visitors to create their own interpretation of Virgil Abloh x Nike products.

CLOT x Dr Woo

When: INNERSECT 2017

What: Edison Chen’s CLOT imprint and famous tattoo artist Dr. Woo have teamed up to create a heavily washed Chinese military jacket exclusive to INNERSECT. The jacket was available for purchase in limited quantities and incorporated design elements such as quilts and buttons that made each piece a true collector’s item.

Reebok x Bodega

When: INNERSECT 2018

What: Bodega and Rebook presented their collaborative “Shanghai Pack” at INNERSECT 2018. Exclusive to the people of Shanghai, the design found Bodega recontextualizing the iconic 90s Reebok silhouettes, Aztrek and Daytona. The collaboration also reintroduced a model influenced by this decade: the Run-96. The sneakers were accompanied by a small capsule collection of ultra-90s clothing that included a bold designer nylon tracksuit, a fleece sweater, t-shirts and socks.

District x DR. COURIER

When: INNERSECT 2018

What: The neighborhood celebrated Dr. Woo in this 2018 collaboration, which saw the tattoo artist immortalized in a ceramic “Booze” incense chamber. The sculpture depicted a tattooed fist clutching a rose atop a skull and served as both a bold interpretation of an incense chamber and a work of art in its own right.

Innersect x Be @ rbrick x Fragment Design

When: 2018

What: In 2018, INNERSECT partnered with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design imprint to create a series of limited-edition Be @ rbrick collectibles, adorned with the fair’s iconic black and yellow colourway. The drop was exclusive to the 2018 event and was so successful that INNERSECT made another collaboration, this time solo, with Be @ rbrick the following year.

There is also another INNERSECT x Be @ rbrick collaboration this year. There will be two different designs – one inspired by traditional Chinese blue and white porcelain, the other a nod to traditional Chinese indigo dye. As always, the drop will be exclusive to the event.

Daniel Arsham x Disney

When: INNERSECT 2019

What: For the 2019 edition of INNERSECT, Daniel Arsham has partnered with Disney and the APPortfolio art vendors to launch a two-part series of event-exclusive Mickey Mouse figures.

Levi’s x Futura

When: INNERSECT 2019

What: Another INNERSECT exclusive, this exciting association saw Levi’s team up with Futura’s streetwear brand, Futura Laboratories, for a “Culture Center” moment exclusive to their Chinese fans. The result was an exclusive product collection and event activation during the 2019 event.

Diesel x ACW

When: INNERSECT 2019

What: Samuel Ross of ACW * brought his edgy aesthetic to this collection with Diesel, which debuted at New York Fashion Week before heading to INNERSECT in 2019. The collaboration was stacked with distressed dyed denim that added a touch of dystopia to the traditional workwear silhouettes.

Colette x Highsnobiety

When: INNERSECT 2020

What: Highsnobiety has partnered with the Parisian institution Colette to celebrate the impact of iconic brands on the fashion industry. In addition to a documentary, Colette, My Love, the collaboration included a range of merchandise – t-shirts, hoodies, caps and tote bags – available for cop at Innersect 2020.


When: INNERSECT 2020

What: INNERSECT and US rapper Lil Skies have joined forces for the official release of the single “LOOK EASY”, which was released exclusively through the INNERSECT app. Naturally, the runway arrived with a selection of merchandise including a sweater, t-shirts and socks.
