Roca and Nianzou should look for loan moves
The two months of the new campaign have given a glimpse of the players who will be crucial for Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich. The German manager didn’t alternate much between Champions League and Bundesliga games, which led to much reduced playing time for the squad’s fringe players.
Marc Roca and Tanguy Nianzou are the two young players who have yet to achieve consistent playing time this season. The two young players struggled to dislodge quality players in training. If things don’t change for both players, then it could be decision time for them in the winter transfer window.
Nianzou currently has three defenders in the squad ahead of him. Niklas Sule, Dayot Upamecano and Lucas Hernandez have shared playing times in the heart of defense over the past two months. Nianzou has had a few minutes here and there, but he needs a longer run in the team to show his qualities.
According to Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern currently have no plans to sanction a loan for Nianzou in January. The club’s decision to keep him as a cover in case an injury crisis arises in the heart of the defense may not be beneficial to his development.
Since leaving PSG in 2020, Nianzou has experienced constant setbacks. He suffered injuries in his first season. The French defender has not had a series of games under his belt for more than 18 months. A loan movement could certainly help its development get back on track. Die Roten is expected to try to get him a six-month loan in January and assess his situation next summer.
Meanwhile, Roca also finds himself in a similar position. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sport1 (via iMiaSanMia), Roca will meet with Julian Nagelsmann and Die Roten to clarify his playing time. The Spaniard has yet to start this season.
Roca was unlucky to get injured early in the preseason. He worked hard over the summer to prepare for the new campaign after struggling to get playing time in his first season. However, things did not go as planned for him, with Nagelsmann publicly urging him to work harder in training.

These two young players are currently in a delicate situation at Die Roten. Considering the depth of the team, the two can really benefit from a short loan to regain confidence and pace. Unless Nagelsmann turns the squad around heavily over the next two months, Bayern will be busy arranging loan spells for fringe players.
